First call on Android overtaking the iOS?

Gartner has called it… with Android racking up 25.5% share vs Apple’s 16.7% share. The top spot goes to Symbian at 36.6%.

Note that this Gartner report is based on worldwide phone sales. Previous ComScore and Nielsen reports refer to subscribers (ComScore) and phone purchases (Nielsen) within the US market only, and ranks RIM as #1 in terms of smartphone market share, followed by Apple and Android.
