Why premium media products should be platform agnostic

“Media companies face a critical choice as they struggle to introduce user payment for digital content:

Should they introduce separate products for each new platform, such as iPad, or try to sell a cross-platform subscription?”

The post looks at a number of reasons why it would be better to offer readers/users a  platform agnostic subscription in which they pay one subscription price for web/mobile/i-pad content instead of separating out subscriptions to each different digital device. This is based on the premise that the strongest relationship is between the user and the media brand rather than to a specific digital version.
